BOTOX® Cosmetic has become well known for removing the typical frown lines between eyebrows. It is further in use for the horizontal forehead lines, the crow’s feet, bunny lines, jelly rolls, and to decrease the size of the masseter muscles. In a recent study published by JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery, more benefits from BOTOX® Cosmetic were reported. Dr. Bonaparte and David Ellis reported on their performance study to understand the effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic (onabotulinum toxin A) on the skin of women. These women were treated for the typical indication of softening the wrinkles around the forehead, glabella and crow’s feet.

It was shown that BOTOX® Cosmetic not only paralyzes the muscles creating the wrinkles but actually improves the pliability and elasticity of the skin. Have you ever wished your double chin would just go away? Then you may be excited to learn about a new injectable that was just approved by the FDA. Kybella™ is just like the deoxycholic acid made by your own human body, which absorbs fat. However, when injected precisely into the submental fat, it zaps fat cells, but it is only designed and approved for the chin fat at this time.

They should also be aware that Kybella™ comes in a package with a distinctive hologram; hence if the hologram is not present, the product should never be used.

Overall, the potential for Kybella™ as an ideal solution for double chins is extremely promising and exciting to people who have been self-conscious about this part of their face. When you smile, the muscles around your eyes contract. Over time, this can cause wrinkles and creases to appear. The horizontal under eye lines are often caused by the circular muscles contracting and moving eyelids as you open and shut your eyelids. Blinking, squinting, and other unavoidable reflexes may lead to crow’s feet and also “jelly rolls” underneath the eyes.

In professional terms, these are known as orbicularis. The fine lines that result can be noticeably minimized with Botulism toxin, known commercially as BOTOX® Cosmetic or Xeomin®.
