Injectables

Injectables & “Fillers” is a term used to describe substances that can be injected into the face, and sometimes other parts, to “fill” or restore volume. Fillers can often be referred to as dermal fillers or facial fillers. They are often wrongly confused with Botox, but fillers do not paralyze the muscles and Botox does not fill empty spaces. One of the most recent advancements in facial aging is the discovery that the aging process does not only result from sagging tissues, but also from the loss of fat which helps support the skin.

There are many fillers in the market including Juvederm, Restylane, Artefill, Radiesse, and Sculptra. The most commonly used fillers are temporary and based on hyaluronic acid (Juvederm and Restylane). Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural substance found in your body.

Juvederm Ultra XC

Juvederm Ultra XC is an excellent filler and can be injected to correct the lines under your eyes (tear trough deformity), around your nose (nasolabial lines), around your mouth (marionette lines), and other fine lines around the face. Juvederm Ultra XC injections can last up to a year, but it is crafted with a finer molecule and thinner makeup than the Ultra Plus XC. It is better for a patient with less noticeable fine lines and wrinkles, simply to add a bit more volume.

Juvederm Ultra Plus XC

The difference between Juvederm Ultra XC and Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is that that latter offers more dramatic results. It’s robust and concentrated formulation makes it more desirable when the patient has deeper or more relentless facial wrinkles and nasolabial or marionette lines.  Juvederm Ultra Plus is also longer lasting, although slightly more expensive. Most patients really enjoy the marvelous effects!

Juvederm Voluma

Patients who have lost cheek volume or need a nonsurgical facelift are good candidates for Juvederm Voluma. This FDA-approved filler is used to plump up the volume in cheeks and fill wrinkles, much like the Ultra XC and Ultra Plus XC, but with more promotion of the lifting of a patient’s mid-face region. Voluma is effective in reducing the signs of aging and offers long-lasting results, with results for up to two years.
