Liposuction

A toned and defined appearance helps many men and women feel more confident in their bodies. However, stubborn fat accumulations can make you feel flabby and unattractive. Many people have fat that is resistant to diet and exercise. Genetics can make you more prone to developing fat in a certain area, or a recent lifestyle change can cause fat to accumulate. Liposuction effectively eliminates fat to restore the definition and contours of your physique.

Do You Desire...

  • A toned, lean appearance
  • Enhanced definition
  • Defined curves
  • A natural, balanced appearance

Preparing for Your Liposuction

Men and women considering liposuction should be in good health and have realistic expectations about their results. Liposuction is not a weight-loss procedure, and to achieve optimal results, patients should be within 15 pounds of their goal weight before undergoing liposuction. You shouldn’t smoke for six weeks prior to your surgery, and do not take blood-thinning medications for two weeks before surgery. Do not shave your treatment area right before your procedure because open pores are more likely to become infected. Do not eat or drink anything for 12 hours before your procedure.

High Definition Liposuction

  • Also known as 4D liposuction or liposculpture
  • Accentuates abdominal and chest muscle contours by performing etching and shadowing
  • Often combined with fat transfer to muscles, including pectorals, biceps, triceps, and calves

Tumescent Liposuction

  • A fluid comprised of an anesthetic saline solution is injected into the fat tissue
  • The fluid makes the treatment comfortable, minimizes bleeding, and allows for easier fat removal
  • Reduces postoperative bruising and lowers your risk of blood loss
  • Tumescent liposuction is always the base technique used, and other forms of liposuction may be combined with it for the best results possible

Ultrasonic Liposuction

  • Sound waves are used to unsettle deposits of fat in the treatment area
  • The ultrasonic energy breaks up fat, making it looser for the removal process
  • Ideal for treating very fibrous areas such as the upper back

Power-Assisted Liposuction

  • The cannula vibrates in order to remove fat at a quicker rate with less trauma and pain
  • The procedure is performed using local anesthesia with the patient awake
  • Abdomen

    — Restore a flatter, more toned abdominal appearance
  • Flanks

    — Enhance or create more attractive curves in the midsection by removing “love handles” or “muffin top” fat deposits
  • Thighs

    — Eliminate irritating chafing and achieve a more defined thigh gap
  • Arms

    — Gain a more toned and athletic arm appearance
  • Chest/Breasts

    — Men can achieve a more masculine chest appearance, and women can reduce breast size to alleviate back and neck pain
  • Back

    — Create back definition and eliminate unsightly bra folds
  • Neck

    — Erase the appearance of a double chin and restore a more graceful neck appearance
  • Buttocks

    — Create shapely and defined buttocks for enhanced curves
  • Knees/Ankles

    — Slim the appearance of the legs by removing fat along the knees and ankles

Post-Weight Loss

  • Liposuction is not a weight-loss procedure, but it can be performed following weight loss to enhance your results
  • Patients considering liposuction should be within 15 pounds of their ideal weight
  • Liposuction after weight loss can specifically target those stubborn fat deposits that have been resistant to diet and exercise

Post-Pregnancy

  • Fat that accumulates during pregnancy can be resistant to natural removal
  • Liposuction following pregnancy can help restore your pre-baby body and improve your confidence
  • Liposuction can be combined with a tummy tuck to improve the appearance of abdominal laxity

Age-Related Fat Accumulation

  • A slowing metabolism is often a result of the aging process
  • As the metabolism slows, it can become more difficult to prevent fat from accumulating
  • Liposuction can be used to enhance and restore a more youthful appearance in patients who struggle to prevent unwanted fat storage

Faq

Ideal candidates for liposuction are in good health, do not smoke, and have realistic expectations of the procedure. Those who experience the best results are at or near their ideal weight and have maintained it for at least three months. If you have sagging skin in your area of concern, a body lifting procedure will likely provide you with better results since liposuction does not remove excess skin.

Liposuction is not intended to be a procedure for weight loss. In fact, the average amount of weight lost from the procedure is about five pounds. The goal of liposuction is to streamline the appearance of someone who is already near their ideal body shape but has stubborn areas of fat that do not seem to go away despite their best efforts.

Liposuction will not treat cellulite, and depending on your skin quality, it may make cellulite worse. Liposuction will remove the fat, but it does not tighten the skin or perfect the underlying tissues. A skin tightening procedure may be a more ideal solution if your main concern is cellulite.

If you have poor skin elasticity or any sagging skin in your abdomen, a tummy tuck may be a better option for you. A mini tummy tuck will address loose skin and excess fat in the lower abdomen only, while a traditional tummy tuck removes excess skin and fat from the entire abdomen and also tightens any loose abdominal muscles.

After the procedure, the area may be wrapped to help the skin conform to the new contours, and drainage tubes may be present to discard any excess fluid. You should arrange for someone to drive you home and to assist you for the first day after surgery. Most patients can return to work and routine activities two weeks after liposuction. Depending on the area treated, you should not bend over, exercise, or do any heavy lifting for the first six weeks.

Results from liposuction are permanent unless you become pregnant or you greatly fluctuate in weight. Even if you do gain weight, it will be distributed in a more appealing way than if you had never gotten the procedure. Liposuction does not improve skin quality, nor does it prevent or remove wrinkles and stretch marks. Those who choose liposuction enjoy their more slender physique and increased confidence almost immediately after the procedure.
