Mother or Daughter? A Southwest Plastic Surgery Facelift, Almost Ten Years Later

Posted on: October 13, 2026  |   Category: ,

Black and white composite portrait joining half of a mother's face and half of her daughter's face down the midline, both with long wavy hair. The mother had a facelift with Dr. Frank Agullo at Southwest Plastic Surgery almost ten years earlier. Shared with permission.

Which side is Mom?

Dr. Frank Agullo posted this portrait on Instagram today with a twist: “Mom is 23 years older than her daughter, and I performed her facelift almost 10 years ago!”

“A great facelift isn’t about looking different. It’s about looking like a younger version of yourself, even years later!”

A Deep Plane Lift Moves, It Does Not Pull

Dr. Agullo explains it to patients in the consult room this way:

“It’s just gonna be a younger version of yourself. You’re gonna look more energetic, probably to match the way you feel. But it’s not gonna be that blown in the wind. It’s still a deep plane facelift, so I am pulling the deeper structures. We’re not pulling on the skin, that’s what gives that pulled look.”

“It’s still going to be you. It’s going to be completely you, just a younger version. I’m sure if you look at your older photos, your cheeks were up a little bit higher, you didn’t have this fullness here, and your brows were probably up a little bit higher too. So it is just setting the clock back.”

How Long It Lasts

“It’s still a deep plane facelift. So it lasts about seven to ten years.”

“And of course, it’s like starting over. We go back twenty years, and then aging continues, but it’s going to give you a pretty long-lasting result.”

Why Patients Start Earlier

“We kind of lock in the younger age, and then ten years go by, and we do a touch-up, and we get you back to that. It’s a good idea, because if we do it when you’re seventy years old, we can only make you look sixty.”

“I think the deep plane lift and the endoscopic deep plane lift are great procedures, which create very natural and long-lasting results, and we’re seeing patients completely avoid the noninvasive procedures and go straight to the surgical procedures early on.”
