MicroLaser Peel
This type of laser treatment is optimal if you are looking to rejuvenate your skin, to give it a glow and plumped up effect. The science behind this treatment lies in the laser ablating the outer layers at a very controlled and precise depth of the skin in order to resurface the underlying new skin. There are currently three different depths that can be performed, the particular depth that you require to achieve optimal results will be determined during your first consultation. The microlaser peel is ideal to address fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation due to sun damage as well as improvement of skin tone. You may require anything between one to six treatments, depending on your particular needs and concerns. Depending on the required depth which is selected for your particular treatment you may experience any of the following: redness, minor swelling accompanied or not by peeling, for a duration between one up to seven days. You will be sent home with some skin care recovery products to apply, which are particularly important to use during the recovery period in order to ensure optimal results. The microlaser peel at Southwest Plastic Surgery can be performed in many areas of the body: face, neck, targeted to eyes, cheeks or mouth, hands and even the chest area. The latter being subject to sun damage over the years can benefit greatly from this type of treatment.
The Sciton laser works by accurately removing the outermost layer of your skin and revealing the smooth and soft new skin underneath. The skin inside has not been exposed to sunlight or aging and is therefore, fresh and elastic.
This method works, not just to remove the signs of aging but also to get rid of scars, pigmentation issues and injuries. Before the treatment begins, an anesthetic is applied on the skin to make it numb so that the process is painless for the patient. After the skin has completely lost all sensation, the procedure is started. For the procedure to be complete, a time of about 25-30 minutes is required. Because this is a laser based treatment, surgery and incision making is not required and the procedure can easily be performed using local anesthetics.

Profractional Laser Treatments
The good news for you is that Sciton has now come up with a new skin resurfacing technology which is known as the ProFractional laser skin resurfacing. Where the Sciton laser has these innumerable benefits, you should keep in mind that the results are not immediately achieved. In fact, some time is required for your skin to recover fully from the effects of the treatment which might include rashes, swelling, crusting, blemishes and redness of the skin. The inner skin might feel a bit sore and tender at the beginning and might burn on contact, but you should not worry, because this will soon go away, leaving behind the fresh new skin which you will fall in love with.
Dr. Agullo will provide you with a serum and balm which you will have to apply on the skin in order to aid the healing process and protect your skin. The operated area must be kept moist with healing ointments and you should take care not to expose the skin to direct sunlight for at least one week. At first the skin will appear pink and raw, but recovery usually takes not more than four to seven days after which you may return to routine activities. Makeup can safely be applied and you can go outdoors while wearing sun protection. Sun protection should always be worn for three months, which will help prevent most skin diseases.

At Southwest Plastic Surgery we can treat vein and vascular lesions to the face, legs and body. We utilize our ND-YAG laser therapy to get eliminate unsightly spider veins and telangiectasias from the face and legs. WE have a close relationship with one of the top vascular surgeons in the El Paso and Las Cruces area, any veins that require a more invasive treatment are referred to him. The results obtained with this technology are often immediate, usually we recommend 4 to 6 treatments, 4 to 6 weeks apart for best results. This laser can also be used to treat scars accompanied by redness, within or around the scar tissue. Downtime is minimal, most patients return to their daily activities immediately after treatment or the next day.
